Year 2020 was challenging for all of us. All the more we are pleased that we managed to mobilise our forces and means to think of others and to help them in such a tough time connected with covid-19. During the last year we provided a significant volume of material assistance as a reaction to the current situation. We donated a considerable amount of money to Via Foundation, the charitable projects of which we have been supporting regularly for a long time. We took care also of other smaller charitable projects in Bohemia and Slovakia.
In the early stage of the coronavirus pandemic we managed to respond to the lack of disinfectants in the whole Czech market. We adjusted our manufacturing programme overnight and started to produce in bulk much-needed hand sanitizers, which are gentle, do not harm or dry out the skin excessively. Thanks to enormous drive of our staff as well as patience of you, our customers, we managed to quickly supply emergency services, health institutions and drugstores and thousands of satisfied customers of our online store.
Furthermore, during the crisis we provided material assistance in the form of gentle disinfectant for a total amount of CZK 2.5mil to all in need. We helped organisations which are not in the first line of interest but which are part of our lives and supporting them is more than important due to maintaining and preserving their activities. They are mainly children´s homes, elderly care homes, social service centres, hospices, Alzheimer centres, the Scouts, Caritas Czech Republic, primary and maternity schools. We would not have managed to distribute more than 17,000 litres of disinfectant to all in need without extreme effort of our colleagues in production, dispatch and management departments but in particular without excellent long-term collaboration with Tomáš Slavata, a philanthropist, and his self-sacrificing help to kids in children´s homes, sick children and all in need.
We are pleased to inform you that Tomáš Slavata, a triathlete and exceptional philanthropist, who we have been actively cooperating with for many years on charitable activities, is the first Czech to be awarded a European prize of #BeActive Local Hero in late 2020. The European committee appreciated his sports projects, thanks to which he has been supporting children, mainly from children´s homes, for a long time.
Besides disinfectant we donated also our amazing caring hand creams to physicians and nurses in departments of infectious diseases in Bohemia and Slovakia in order to help them take care of their hands exhausted by disinfectant.
Helping people in need is a natural part of business activities of Manufaktura, so that is why we easily identify ourselves with the idea of Via Foundation striving for making help, care about others, generosity and benevolence common and integral part of life. We are proud of activities of Via Foundation and thousands of people changing their surroundings for the better. They do it with enthusiasm and hope that we will be able to meet face to face again and to build good friendly neighbourly relations as before. Thanks to us (as well many other donators) Via Foundation could award a grant to 542 amazing associations. Each of them has improved relationships between people in a village or a quarter in a unique way.
I hold in high esteem long-term assistance of active people in Bohemia as well as Manufaktura for supporting Via Foundation´s programmes, which boost resistant and democratic society. I am thankful for cooperation of Via Foundation and Manufaktura, which started in 2014, on development of good neighbourly relations in our villages and towns, on encouraging of people to donate their time, energy and money to other people. So far, Manufaktura has helped support hundreds of groups of people who e.g. planted a new alley together in their village, built a meeting point for people of all generations or started to hold regular cultural events. It turns out how such help is valuable in this difficult time affected by pandemic: people who were more self-assured in good times can bond and help one another also during the crisis. Thanks to Manufaktura the map of the Czech Republic is being filled with places where it is pleasure to live.
Zdeněk Mihalco, Managing Director of Via Foundation
For most than 10 years we have been supporting the department of gynecology and obstetrics in Neratovice Hospital caring of newborns by means of our children´s cosmetics. The staff of the hospital chose our cosmetics many years ago as the best care of sensitive skin of the little ones and they have been very satisfied with them as well as new mothers and their newborns are. We are happy that this nice collaboration has been going on.
Our pleasure is even greater because we implemented aid to such an extent despite of a critical situation in our own company where we are facing huge losses due to repeatedly suspended operation and when it is clear that a hard time we are going through is far from over.
Thank you for your support and loyalty.
